GlobalLogic Expands Global Product Development Service to China
Industry Veteran Joins Global Product Development Firm to Head China Operations
Vienna, VA – GlobalLogic, the leader in global product development (GPD) with more than 140 technology partnerships, has opened a new software delivery center in Beijing, China. The operation will be led by Kirk Tang, who joins the company from mobile software platform vendor MobileAware, where he served as vice president and general manager of Asia-Pacific. In addition to GlobalLogic’s core software R&D offering, Tang will also oversee go-to-market advisory and channel-building services for clients wishing to expand into China and the broader Asia-Pacific market.
GlobalLogic’s Beijing software delivery center will specialize in developing applications for the telecommunications, mobile, business and consumer internet, and embedded technology markets. It will also serve as a regional hub as the company expands into Korea, Japan and other parts of Asia. GlobalLogic has existing centers in the U.S., India and Ukraine.
Kirk Tang brings 10 years of experience in business management in Asia to his new post as vice president and general manager of China operations at GlobalLogic. Prior to joining MobileAware, Tang held senior management positions with international responsibility in sales, channel alliances, business development and operations at BEA Systems, Dell Computer, Versata and Ingram Micro.
“GlobalLogic has experienced rapid growth as both emerging and established technology companies have realized the time-to-market, cost and quality benefits we provide,” said Peter Harrison, CEO of GlobalLogic. “Opening up in China is a logical next step in our global growth strategy – and one that has been eagerly anticipated by many of our clients who are keen to do business in China but do not necessarily have the resources to set up their own operations.”
Tang added: “Almost every technology company I talk to not only wants to take advantage of the pool of world-class Chinese software R&D engineers, they are also looking for assistance on how best to approach the market from a sales perspective. Having spent the last 10 years working for U.S. companies in Asia, I can share unique insights on the opportunities and challenges as they explore potential strategies for this high growth region. We are well positioned to increase our value to our client partners as they expand their business internationally.”
U.S.-based GlobalLogic, an early advocate to technology companies of the quality and time-to-market benefits of global product development specialization, has rapidly grown into a leadership position in the sector. A $300 million market in 2001, the market for GPD services had grown to $3 billion by 2005 according to IDC. Gartner estimates the market for India delivered services will reach $11 billion by the end of 2008.
GlobalLogic has kept pace with the demand for GPD services, recently hiring hundreds of experienced software R&D engineers while partnering with more then 20 new clients during the past 90 days. The company expects to augment its growth with selected acquisitions in China and other regions in the future.
The leader in global product development, GlobalLogic, Inc. partners with emerging and established technology companies to help them bring great software products to market in less time and at less cost. GlobalLogic has developed a unique joint-venture model of partnering with technology companies to create a dedicated global delivery center. By leveraging GlobalLogic’s global facilities and world-class engineers, companies can increase quality while dramatically reducing timelines and operating costs, often by more than 60 percent. Through the GlobalLogic Velocity™ method and platform, the company is also a pioneer in distributed Agile methods and open source platforms that shorten product development cycles while ensuring that the right features are implemented on time, every time.
